Welcome to the Rooted Movement!

Rooted was just the beginning. The Rooted Movement is a space I created for women to gather, reflect, and grow together — honoring the women who carried us, remembering our roots, and inspiring the generations to come. Here, you'll find resources to help you reflect on your own story and stay connected to the legacy within you. It’s a living, breathing extension of Rooted, where remembrance becomes connection, stories turn into legacy, and women rediscover who they truly are.

Here You Can:

Tell us about the women who shaped your life — mothers, grandmothers, aunties, mentors — and what you’ve inherited and learned from them.

The Women Who Carried Us — Digital Stories

Every movement has a heartbeat — this is ours. The Women Who Carried Us is where women from all walks of life come together to honor their roots and the women who made them who they are. Every woman who came before us left a piece of herself. The Women Who Carried Us is a space that honors them and their legacies — and gives you a place to share your own story. Explore photos and stories from women across the movement, celebrating the strength, love, and resilience that carried us home.

If you've read Rooted, then you already know how much my mom meant to me. She was special on so many levels. There was this quiet spirit about her that almost defied logic. I never heard of her being in any drama, holding... Read More Above

Rooted Reunions

Start Your Own Rooted Reunion

A Rooted Reunion is more than a get-together—it’s a homecoming. It’s where women in your family or community come together to share stories, swap photos, and celebrate the legacy of the women who came before us. You may laugh, cry, or learn something interesting or surprising about the women who carried you.

These gatherings are about connection, remembrance, and fellowship. Whether it’s laughter over old memories, learning interesting revelations about your family, reflection on lessons passed down, or simply enjoying time together, Rooted Reunions create a space to honor who we are and where we come from.

To make hosting easy, I’ve created a Rooted Reunion How-To Guide. It includes tips, ideas, and inspiration to help you plan a gathering that’s meaningful and memorable.

Bring your sisters, mothers, aunts, cousins, friends—anyone who wants to reconnect with family and community roots. Share, celebrate, and remember.

Start a Rooted Book Club

There’s something powerful that happens when women come together to read, reflect, and remember who we really are. Rooted isn’t just a story—it’s a movement to reconnect us to our lineage, our legacy, and one another.

If Rooted stirred something in you, consider hosting a Rooted Book Club in your community, church, or living room. All you need is a few women, open hearts, and a willingness to explore where we come from and who we’re becoming.

To help you out, I’ve created a Book Club Host & How-to Guide and Discussion Questions to help you lead meaningful, soul-deep conversations.

Get your sisters together and create a space for real connection. Because when women come together in purpose, we don’t just read a book—we awaken something within us.

Join Me for a Rooted Book Signing & Conversation

I’d love for you to join me for an intimate gathering as we celebrate Rooted: How a Daughter of the South Traced Her Bloodline Back 44,000 Years and Calls Us to Remember Who We Really Are.

This isn’t just a book signing—it’s a homecoming. A chance to connect, share stories, and honor the women who carried us.

Come meet me, get your copy signed, and be part of the Rooted Movement—a soulful journey of remembrance, resilience, and belonging.

Bring a sister, a friend, or someone who needs the reminder that her roots run deep. Let’s celebrate what it means to remember who we are.

Buy Me a Coffee

If you’ve been touched by my work or inspired by The Rooted Movement, I’d love your support. Writing, creating, and keeping this space going takes time and heart—and every cup of coffee helps me keep pouring into this mission.

Your contribution helps me continue sharing stories, creating resources like the Rooted Reunion How-To Guide and Book Club Host Guide, and building spaces for women to reconnect with their roots and with one another.

When you give, you can also leave me a message—I love hearing from readers and women who’ve been moved by the work. Your words remind me that this mission matters and that we’re in it together.

If you feel led, you can “buy me a coffee” as a simple way to say, keep going—I believe in what you’re doing.

Fuel the movement—support below!

Stay Rooted. Stay Connected

Your story matters. Honor the women who carried you, celebrate your roots, and help grow the movement. This isn’t just a movement—it’s a remembrance. A calling back to who we are and where we come from.

Wear your roots with pride through the I Am Rooted apparel collection, and stay connected by following The Rooted Movement for updates and to see more stories from women just like you. And if you haven't grabbed your Free Legacy Guide, you can do that below.

While here, consider giving back to support the work that helps protect the Sandawe and Hadza people—preserving the heritage that connects us all.

And don’t forget to share your story and upload your photos. Together, we are Rooted.
